Sustainability is a pretty intimidating word, but it doesn't have to be. Considering the current state of the world as it relates to climate change, we're simply running out of time. In our next link up, we make sustainability digestible, discussing what it is and how it relates to the Black community, fashion & textile industry, as well as the individual designer. This event is reserved for Black fashion & textile designers, join us at Byas & Leon on Wednesday, October 21st @ 7pm!
As designers it's our responsibility to be aware of our impact, not just aesthetically or functionally, but environmentally. This link up is a recurring dsgnrswrkshp series curated to provide resources and dialogue to challenge our design processes. To discuss, we've tapped into the community for some sustainable heavy hitters:
Devonne Jackson, a stylist, master composter, and founder of Positive Obsession, a platform that provides textile waste awareness and soil, education and resources to grow a more thoughtful fashion industry and consumer.
Harvey Leon, co-founder of Byas & Leon, community based boutique providing only ethical and sustainable wares.
Moja Robinson, a multidisciplinary artist, designer, educator, and environmentalist. Who also has a really dope website.
Looking forward fam, RSVP to link up with us!
